We have enjoyed our first time in Trinidad. We rented a car and have to say, this is the craziest driving in all the Caribbean, lol
Each part of Trinidad is very different. There is a large population from India. It was interesting to see their customs. Beautiful women's clothing. Their market was over whelming. As you drive the island, there is sites with bad poverty, then billionaires row where the very wealthy live.
Trinidad is only 6.8 miles from Venezuela. We have never seen so many boats in one place. Being in South America you feel like you are melting. We met up with Billy Ray (surveyor)we met 7 years ago, what a thrill to see him again! 83 yr old still living on his boat.
We are staying longer than expected. The shipping here is s l o w. We are waiting for our bottom paint to be delivered and we are outtahere.
We spent our time off in North Carolina seeing Chris's family and friends. Then off to Buffalo for more of Lorrie's family. We didn't do any big trips this year (hopefully make that up on the way back to STT.
The boat looks brand new. I can't wait to charter! A revised menu, lots of new items.
We plan on having our splash date (we are on land)the 8th of this month. We will leave shortly after that for Tobago, then to Barbados. I am really looking forward to that trip! I hear it's the culinary capital of the Caribbean. We love to eat...Then we will stop at a few islands and be in St Thomas by the end of the month. Will be happy to see our other sailor friends again.
We can't wait to meet old and new friends this season aboard Purple Pelican.
