Getting Ready To Splash

I don't want to say this dirty word but COVID has reached Grenada. It is so sad to see how rapidly this virus is moving around the island. when we arrived there was 1 case. There is 3,490 today with 48 deaths. Grim news. The locals we have made friends with told us of their families and friends that have passed away and it is heartbreaking to hear. They do not have the luxury of the medical care the United States have. We are fortunate in the U.S.

Most people here did not want to get vaccinated. they are now starting to line up to do so. Every day there is so many new cases! We are in complete lock down from 7pm-5am Monday through Thursday. Friday @5pm until Monday @5am, NO ONE is allowed out of their homes.

Restaurants are take out only during the week, IF they are open at all. Last week our marina had a few positive tests and the whole marina was shut down all week.

So, as you can imagine, we are more than nervous to get off land and into the water. We have been busy painting the bottom and doing what ever else we need to get in the water this week. At least we can finish what we need at the dock IN THE WATER. The plan was staying until the first of October but with as many cases as there are we are playing it safe. Now the possible plan is to leave Grenada October 19th when our cruising permit to be here expires.

We sure would love to cruise the other islands but with all the testing, etc. it's just tough to do. We set up our first charter Thanksgiving. Can't wait!!! My plans for heading to the states September 4th was cancelled. I do not want to leave Chris stranded here and not be able to get back in case they shut the island down (like they did last year) Was very sad not going but can't have the Captain sail back alone to St Thomas. Now possibly November 2.

Tomorrow is another day and it changes day to day here with the rules of covid. The USVI is staying strong with the tourists and we are happy with that. We have never had so many booked charters so early in the season. We are ready to see our new and previous guests!
