It is hard to believe we only have 4 more charters left in this season. It has been an incredible year. Not only have we made life long friends from the guests who have shared their vacations with us but we have made some amazing sailor friends along the way. We have been fortunate enough to meet people from all over the country. One couple in particular has written a book called "Voyage into Hell" What a book! It's on Amazon for a quick read.
There was a 78 year old man that came aboard with his two sons. We sailed to Calibrita Puerto Rico, St Croix, St John and back to St Thomas for his "bucket list" vacation. He can't come back soon enough he said. We then had a woman who was 88 years old that was as solid as can be. She blew us away how she got around and told us stories that were fascinating. We will certainly be visiting them in DC in the future.
I joke around we are going on tour with our new RV we purchased this year and visiting all our guests. Looking forward to heading to New Orleans and to the Spam museum. Hopefully we can do this next summer.
The covid has finally slowed down and we were able to take our masks off for the first time since the virus hit. It has been a challenge here with the heat to wear masks every day, all day. We have been so careful.
We have already been booking for next season and the good news is we are preparing a new itinerary that includes the spanish virgin islands!
Soooo, we tried to go into the British Virgin Islands and they are still refusing U.S. Charter boats into their territory without crazy stipulations. The cost to run a charter in and out of the country will be around $10,000 every 3 months. We would have to raise our price considerably to afford it, They are demanding we purchase all food, fuel, dockage inside the BVI while there. Sounds like we will not be going in until they loosen the strict regulations!
The cruise ships are here almost every day, flights are busy bringing people in since we no longer require a covid test to enter. That is always nerve racking for our guests. Our covid count is low and people are happy and healthy.
The weather is perfect, sunny every day and 84 degrees. At night the breeze through the hatch and the gentle sway of the boat are a combination for a perfect nights sleep. We had a man say he hasn't slept that good for months since he had a tragedy in his family.
We are truly blessed to have the opportunity to make everyone that boards the Purple Pelican's dream vacation a reality. We love what we do. Only two more months and we will be heading to Grenada for our haul out. Yes, we will be adding more amenities to the yacht:)
