We are back in the states. Lorrie left for Puerto Rico to continue looking for a place to purchase (no luck this time) Captain Chris sailed off to Grenada with his first mate Kevin Sherfey.
Before we left we went to Home Depot and asked if they could help with the Hurricane relief in the Grenadines. To our surprise, they gave us a large generator and a $150.00 credit on our cart that was filled with nails, screws, hammers, etc.
We also had a large donation of a thousand dollars from Kim & Dick Stuart on SV/Deep blue They wanted to join in the effort but had other obligations. We then went to Kmart asked the same question and they gave us a $50.00 gift certificate towards things in our cart. That had tents, sleeping bags, lots of tarps, bug spray, etc. which were desperately needed.
The pictures will be uploaded on social media. Captain Chris & Kevin met up with the other boats that were in the relief effort Turquoise Turtle, Kuma Two, Sun Goddess & Whisper. What a group to go with. FUN!!! We hope to leave with them again in November back to the USVI.
To say this organization "Hope Fleet" is amazing is an understatement. I initially reached out to Captain Ray Thackery who is someone we have known for 7 years through our boat. He coordinated us with Kimberly in St Lucia while he sailed 12 TONS of supplies back to Haiti from Florida. Purple Pelican is a rescue boat that he started. It has been around the world with relief efforts for those in need. (If you want to check it out it is under "rendezvous Cay") Every year we do some kind of charity as well as befriend the homeless in St Thomas. We have an awesome vibe aboard this Voyage Catamaran.
After they stopped in St Lucia and picked up more supplies to sail on to Union. They dropped off the supplies to some very appreciative, happy people. When they sailed by Mayreau it devastated that tiny island. Beryl showed no mercy on this beautiful island where our friend Rasta Bob lives and the little stone church we love to hike up too.
Leaving the island of Union it was on to Carriacou to drop off more supplies.
The Captain had to say good bye to his good friend Kevin when they reached Grenada and met up with the other boaters to continue on to Trinidad. We have never been to Trinidad so it is exciting to be in a new place.
The boat is now on the hard where we will do the Doctors appointments, family, friends and head back to work on the boat the end of next month. I love this part! We always upgrade something big. This year, painting the inside of boat.
