Purple Pelican came out of the water August 4. We are in Clark Court Marina in Woburn. It's always nerve racking seeing the boat lift out of the water but exciting at the same time to know how beautiful she will be when returned!
Chris is an animal when it comes to hard labor. He has been stripping, scrapping and sweating taking off the bottom paint. He is hiring a local to sand and he will paint it. I heard it was hot in the south and yes it is hot here close to South America. We don't like to breath in the south African dust but know it's a good sign since there won't be any hurricane's with that around.
We have been enjoying the nightlife and all Grenada has to offer as well as seeing our old friends (who never left)and the ones that came in from the Virgin islands on their boats.
The restaurants are all outdoors, palm trees and the spectacular array of flowers are all around which gives it that tropical feel. We haven't been up to the rainforest but hope to in October when we are back in the water. I can't stress the love we have for the people who live here. They are so kind and welcoming to everyone that comes to their island. In the evenings there is something to do in every bay. The cruisers play their music and sing karaoke. On certain nights local favorites will play and yes, they are amazing. On Sunday is a big party with bands and singers that go to Hog Island (close by, mostly by dinghy) Food is available and is a FUN time.
I am so excited to say we are having our shirts printed and will be available for our charter guests! I have a drawing of our boat that is on the back and the sly Pelican on the front. We have new work shirts finally!!!
I want to go back to the states next month and and see family and friends. It looks like we are going to have another great year when we are booking so early in the off season now. We are so very grateful for every charter. So, I need to go back while I can :)
I have started to cook again and tweaked the menu a little. Any suggestions I would love to hear them. I think the Baked Alaska will be a big hit as I've been practicing on Chris. With our new freezer we can now have ice cream, YES!!! So many have said they would love that. Me too! I was thinking sorbet too??? Kiwi, coconut and Lemon?
We are on land until October 1 and we are pushing to get everything we want done by then. I can't wait for the new season to begin!
